I believe that God is good. Even when things are going bad, he's there. He helps us realise that the external things that happen to us are not the most important at all. The circumstances are all there so that we can learn to purify and wield our souls and wills and hearts in trials of fire. He reminds us that we must not be obsessed with the external things, which don't last for very long. Which were never meant to last, inherent in their nature.
Even something we have had and taken for granted and treasured each moment - even life - doesn't last forever. Our worst fear should not be dying, but dying without having found an ultimate hope and joy.
